Bestiary is a system that allows players to have more information about a monster, such as how much experience it gives, how much health it has and its orb loot. You can find the bestiary menu through the Others menu, like shown in the image.
Getting started
The bestiary is categorized for the different types of content that are present in BlackTalon, such as task bosses, quest bosses and hunting ground creatures. You will be able to see the desired creature you want to have more information of by clicking the correct category.
Once inside the correct category, the menu will display a lot of question marks, which means that you will need to kill at least one of the creature to unlock it on the bestiary. Once unlocked, you will be able to click its image for a more detailed menu with the information on the creature.
On the bestiary menu you can also sort the way that monsters are displayed by three options: progress, area and level. You can also type the monster's name to quickly find it without having to rely on the filter.
When looking at the specific creature, you can see all of the unlockables in it. You will need to reach a certain amount of kills to keep unlocking information, which will be better elaborated further below. You will also gain a small bonus upon completing the amount of kills necessary for that monster.
Each monster has a different amount of kills needed to fully unlock the bestiary, so the challenge isn't in vain for those who enjoy completing content to 100%.
Bestiary mechanics
The bestiary, although it has several different categories for different content, is mainly divided by two types: normal creatures and boss creatures. They work differently within the bestiary.
General information
As the image shows, when you kill one of the creature, you will unlock its menu on the bestiary. When you click its portrait, the menu shown in the image will appear.
There, it shows the monster image, the amount of kills (green bar), difficulty (stars), health/experience/speed, the bonus when completed (in red, inside the box) and the loot information.
You unlock parts of information by reaching the thirds of the total amount of kills needed to complete the monster.
The bonus (in red inside the little box) will turn green once you achieve the total amount of kills, meaning that you now have the specified bonus active to your character.
Normal creatures
For normal creatures, once you complete the first third of the total amount of kills, it will unlock information about their health, experience and speed, as well as orb loot for strange and rare. The second third will unlock the information for the epic orb loot and, finally, the last third will unlock the legendary orb loot information, as well as activating the bonus.
Boss creatures
For boss creatures it works differently from normal creatures, since they cannot be elite creatures and, therefore, cannot have different classes. The first third will unlock information about health, experience and speed. The second third will unlock its loot information from uncommon to semi-rare and the last third unlocks the very rare loot information, as well as activating the bonus, like shown in the image.
